Māori economic development must recognise and reaffirm the role of Māori as tangata whenua and kaitiaki.

While some may still see Māori Economics as an “emerging” market we see Māori Economics as a “maturing” market. We see a partnership of Māori, Government and the business sector with the aim of combining cultural, social and economic science to achieve economic prosperity for all New Zealanders.

The Community of Practice helps build Māori economic development through capacity building and knowledge management, financial planning (including budgeting and forecasting), business and strategic planning, change management and management of natural resources to name but a few.
